eircom was awarded the top prize in the Telecoms, Media & Technology category at the recent Inspired IT Awards ceremony in Dublin's Mansion House. eircom won the award for the development and implementation of a managed speech enabled business solution for AIB.

The solution, which eircom and its partner Speechstorm developed and implemented for AIB is the single largest speech recognition deployment in Ireland. Ultimately the solution delivers standardised processes ensuring consistency of customer experience in all AIB branches across the country. The new solution has greatly enhanced the customer experience, created a greater focus on value-adding activity, optimised the benefit of available technology and ultimately resulting in substantial cost savings.

Commenting on the win Clive Ryan, Director, Advisory Services said, "The team is delighted to win the Award. This system is regarded as one of the most innovative, ground breaking approaches to managing customer contact in the Irish Financial Services sector and it has greatly enhanced AIB's day to day business functions. We have worked very closely with AIB in the last year to design, refine, develop and implement the eVR solution. The Inspired IT Awards is an annual event which acknowledges the role of IT Managers and their teams in creating business value and their strategic role in helping drive competitiveness and position Ireland at the forefront of knowledge creation and IT innovation globally.

This year's Awards ceremony was the most competitive in the event's history with a record number of entries and over 400 representatives from the Irish IT and Telecoms community in attendance. Twelve category winners across the Irish marketplace were recognised and represented companies as diverse as government departments, SMEs, global multi-nationals and leading indigenous companies.
